Internship Opportunities
Internships may be available in the following areas: editorial, sales and marketing, event planning, accounting, circulation, and IT. At this time we do not offer any internship programs for high school seniors.
Editorial Intern—Mpls.St.Paul Magazine
Job Description: The paid position ($15/hour) is 20–25 hours per week and involves fact checking; participating in research projects; managing our online events calendar; and writing and editing for Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, Mpls.St.Paul Home & Design, and mspmag.com. Interns finesse research and reporting/editing skills and get an inside look at the workings of a monthly publication and daily website and newsletter. We want our interns to leave the internship program with an understanding of both print and digital publishing platforms, which is crucial in today’s job market.
Start Dates: We typically offer two internship programs—winter/spring (January through June) and summer/fall (June through January). Note: We do not offer summer-only internships. The positions are mostly remote, with one day in the office each week (we still require that interns be based in the Twin Cities area for meetings and possible event coverage). You must be able to use your own cell phone and access to internet for the position. We will provide you with a laptop for the internship’s duration.
Requirements: Candidate must be pursuing or have graduated with an English/ journalism/communications major or minor, or have related experience. Eagerness, a willingness to learn, and an interest in magazines is a must. Experience at a student publication and/or other publications is preferred.
Deadline: The deadline for the summer/fall 2023 internship application is April 14, 2023. The deadline for the winter/spring 2024 internship application is November 10, 2023. Please indicate which timeframe you wish to be considered for in your application.
